New publication

Wenhao and Jeong Hui’s paper on the molecular templating of layered halide perovskite nanowires have been published in Science. Congratulations!

Dr. Phil Szuromi’s summary: “A templating method enables the growth of two-dimensional metal-halide perovskite nanowires that exhibit polarized photoluminescence and enable low-loss waveguiding. Shao et al. grew nanowires of (BrCA3)2PbBr4, where BrCA3 is 2-(2-bromo-5-carboxyphenoxy)ethan-1-aminium. The carboxylic acid group of BrCA3 inhibited the growth of all crystal facets except [110], which led to one-directional growth. The nanowires also achieved efficient light amplification, with a threshold of less than 20 microjoules per square centimeter.” Read the full story here. The story is highlighted by Purdue and many news outlets.

SURF students

The group welcomes Chenyu Li from Georgia Tech to join the SURF program this summer. Chenyu will work on synthesis and characterization of 2D perovskite nanostructures and nanowires. Welcome to the group!

In addition, our existing group member Anika Bhoopalam is also selected for the SURF award and will be co-advised with Prof. Arun Mannodi Kanakkithodi and work on novel low band gap perovskite absorbers this summer. Congratulations!

Sixth Dou group PhD

Jee Yung Park successfully defended his thesis! — Sixth PhD in our group. Big congratulations! Jee is heading to Yale to do a postdoc training with Prof. Peijun Guo. Thank you for your hard work over the years. Best of luck in your future endeavors!

New publication

Jee and Yoonho’s paper on the bias-induced ion migration in 2D perovskite heterostructures have been published in Matter. Congratulations!

We fabricate a 2D perovskite single-crystal heterostructure device that can visualize real-time movement of halide anions under external electric bias. Directional movement as well as the favored channels of ion migration are investigated, while post-migration device characteristics are revealed to exhibit asymmetry due to directional ion migration. Alumni news

Dr. Yoonho Lee joins Sungshin Women’s University as an Assistant Professor.

Dr. Jiaonan Sun joins City University of Hong Kong as a postdoc (with Prof. Alex Jen) and will transit to South China University of Technology as an Assistant Professor in 2025.

Thank you both for the great work at Purdue and good luck with your future endeavors!
