Thao was selected as 2019-2020 Office of Undergrad Research Scholar and Blake won the 2019 SURF mentorship award. Congratulations!

We are excited to have new postdoc fellows Dr. Kang Wang , Dr. Wenchao Zhao (co-advised with Prof. Bryan Boudouris), and visiting scholar Prof. Aihui Liang and Diana Fonseca to join the group! Both Kang and Wenchao got their PhD from Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Science. Prof. Liang comes from school or chemistry and chemical engineering of Jiangxi Normal University. Diana comes from Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Welcome to the group and we should take a new group picture!

 

The Boudouris and Dou groups receive a joint NSF EAGER grant to explore radical – perovskite hybrid materials for thermoelectric applications. Thanks for the support and congratulations!

Congratulations to Dr. Ke Ma to be awarded the prestigious Lillian Gilbreth Postdoc Fellowship. Ke received her PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder in December 2017 and her BS degree in Chemical Engineering & Technology from Zhejiang University. Ke will be working with the Dou, Mei, and Boudouris groups at Purdue. We look forward to welcoming Dr. Ma in this August.

The group receives a seed grant from Purdue Process Safety and Assurance Center (P2SAC) for developing safer materials and processing in printed electronics. Thanks for the support and congratulations to the group!

 

Enzheng and Shibin’s paper about 2D perovskite edge states is published in ACS Nano. Congratulations!

We report the formation mechanism and the dynamic nature of edge states on the exfoliated 2D halide perovskites thin crystals. In contrast to other 2D materials, the edge states in 2D perovskites are extrinsic and composed of multiple low energy states due to interaction with moisture.  We demonstrate that the charge carriers on the dynamically formed edge states are not only long-lived, but also highly mobile and can be conducted along the edges effectively with high mobilities of 5.4-7.0 cm2V-1s-1. This work provides significant insights on the origin of the edge states in 2D perovskites and provides routes to manipulate their optical and electrical properties through controlling their edges.
